Who knows a good one, and also what time of year is the best time to go?

My mom wants to go fishing with the grandkids, my wife & I to make some memories and also relive some from her childhood. She grew up in Denison and her mom and dad always took her fishing and camping. She hasn’t been since I was a kid but tells stories of hanging a lantern over their boat when she was young and tearing up the crappie.

I’d love for it to be a trip we would all really enjoy and remember for the rest of our lives. Who have you used and were you pleased? Did yall have any luck?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

If you prefer casing lures use Chris Carey at Striper Express, he is good. If you want to fish live bait, use JD Lyle, he is good with kids and a very good guide. If you want to troll, I can’t help you with that. I fish up there often, and these two guides would be my choice should I ever hire one.

We've been gone from the Texoma scene for 4 years, after living up there on the water for 11 years in the cabin & boathouse property I set up in 1998 around the corner from the Lighthouse Marina ... but I'd use JD Lyle anytime I could. He also has/had some cabins to rent.

All the local guys I talk to down here in Palestine either fish the Trinity River for Alligator Gar or Richland Chambers for catfish...and been tearing up the catfish bigtime all spring ....as long as the wind is out of the south....but I miss watching the Stripers chase my Chug Bugs in front of Ross Perot's house, or catching Small Mouth in the rocks off the point across from the Dallas Water Intake...but I finally gave up going and sold (dang near gave away) the Key West 216 CC last month...oh well.

We go to the okie side and use Chris Caldwell with CGC guide services. Chris has been guiding up there close to when dirt was created roflmao.. he’s the guy all of the other guides are calling for advice while we tear them up. I’ve taken my kids before and I’ve fished with an older man all with Chris and he’s done a fine job accommodating everyone on his boat. Good guy to just chat with too. He dead sticks in the winter and live bait in the spring/summer but count on catching any time you go.
One thing my boys enjoy when fishing with Chris is trying to catch catfish at the dock when he’s cleaning our fish. We’ve seen a few over 30lbs..
