The deer has not been officially scored but the taxidermist who is an official b & c scorer estimated 143 to 147
A friend on mine from church shot it on my place north of Bertram. When I saw It laying on the ground I told him to get it mounted that he would hunt a long time in that country before he got a.better one.

I grew up in Burnet and have hunted all over the county. Definitely a good buck! I have a cousin with a place close to Shady Grove that sees some pretty good deer every year another near Black's Fort. I had lease farther north up near south Rocky creek that had a few decent bucks roam thru from time to time. Probably the biggest deer I ever saw in Burnet county was just a little bit west of where FM1174 tees into FM963 near where the north Gabriel crosses under 963. Are you originally from around that area?

I used to drive through Burnet County, between Copperas Cove and Briggs. I used to see a dark antlered buck in Oakalla. He wasn't nearly the size of this buck, but had a nice rack nontheless. Could be dark antler genes in that area. Thats a buck I would take first day anywhere.

My first thought was 145-148 at a glance.
Hell of a buck
Congrats

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!
