is there a maximum magazine size you can use in a semi automatic rifle deer hunting ?

It depends on the state, currently none in Texas. That said, the old proverb goes, “One shot, one deer. Two shots, maybe one deer. Three shots, no deer.”

yeah was asking about here in texas ! florida 5 rounds max in a semi auto but unlimited in a bolt action or pump rifle ! Thanks for the answers !

Was thinking of buying ar platform for hunting and wanted to know if I would have to buy low capacity magazine to deer hunt with . Was talking with friend who lives else where and he mentioned there rules . Wanted information before I proceeded.i also called Texas Game and fish and got no answers from them as most of the staff are working remotely.

There are plenty of 5 round mags available for deer hunting, which is plenty. I use 20 round mags for hog hunting, but have only done more than say 10 consecutive shots a time or two. Here's my all-time leader in rounds down-range on a single hog. ( I was still learning the concept of "lead" ) Charlie

I did that with yotes once. Actually, it was a 2 for 1. It was a 12ga slug so it was a BIG one. They didn't shake that off.

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.
