I pay $10 a year for a membership at a senior citizens center with a pool, gym, yoga, and I never have to wait to use equipment. I've been a member of a number of gyms such as Lifetime Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, and few others and what they had in common was they're busy, expensive and if you're set up with direct pay (which most require) with a credit/debit card or checking account number, it's a major pita getting them to stop debiting your account or charging your cards despite strictly following the gyms company guidelines for canceling a membership.

Do you ever get the feeling you're being watched? Because if you do, I'll stop doing it.

My dad is a member of the university's rec center since he's a faculty member and he seems to like it. Of course, we usually go at like 5:30, so there's not too big of a crowd there. Plus side is that deer hunting is easier then since we're used to getting up early anyway!

I am big fan of 24 Hour Fitness. Get the 2 year membership from Costco and pay like $20 per month, but you pay a one time fee when you get the membership.

They don't open 24 hours a day, but most are open by 4 am which is the best time for me to work out.
