Brunswick stew. I'll be home tomorrow and can post if you want, but when I cook squirrel, it is my go to.

I've always though a Mulligan stew just had everything in the pantry in it.

mulligan stew: Said to have originated in hobo camps during the early 1900s, mulligan stew is a sort of catch-all dish of whatever is available. It usually contains meat, potatoes and vegetables in just about any combination. The name indicates that its origins might come from irish stewburgoo.

so ... could be squirrel, rabbit, coon, possum, chicken, beef, etc. or any combination

that's kinda what I was taught anyway. if it was a combination, my mother called it Mulligan ... if some specific meat only, it was xxxxxx stew (like squirrel stew).

if it had dumplings, it was xxxxxx (whatever meat involved) dumplings, (like chicken n dumplings, squirrel n dumplings, rabbit n dumplings, etc.) ...

stew has more vegetables, potatoes, etc. but not dumplings.

PMK, You may have hit on the correct definition for the different types of stews and/or mulligans. Thanks Daniel

Unless it's a Cajun stew, that's different lol.
