Anybody else out there noticing a lack of hogs showing up around feeders lately? I normally have a lot of sounders showing up at different feeders on a couple of properties and haven't seen more than a dozen or so lone boars over the past month or so. I'm thinking there must be something blooming they would rather be eating or something like that. I know they are still around the area, but must be staying in the deep woods and not coming out in search of food.

Seems to be the same thing about once a year at my place, and usually in the spring. Pretty sure it's all the new spring growth, snakes coming out, etc. Seeing fewer hogs now than I have in months, and didn't see a one last weekend. At my place they seem to move up and down the creek over the year and then cycle back through.
The helicopter hunts a month ago all around me where they supposedly got over 1000 hogs could have had an impact too, I guess...

Part of mine are in an area of real tall trees with a large canopy over head and part in 13 acres of rye grass, they are grazing like cows in the late afternoon.

Shot a medium size boar Friday and a large sow Saturday with my muzzle loader. Sow had some piglets with her.

Vegas. They went to Vegas. That was always our answer for why hogs or deer would just seem to stop showing up for no apparent reason. I could be covered up with deer at my place and have them on game cam all night now and quite a bit during the day, bucks with various sizes of racks, does, yearlings, and POOF, corn would start piling up under the feeder and I would have maybe 2 or 3 deer showing up in a given day and that was it. Then, they would start coming back again a week or two later. Happens with hogs. They are on camera every night for a while and then just stop coming and restart X days later. Weird.

The hog disappearances I tended to blame on hunters on other surrounding properties putting pressure on the hogs and causing a shift in their typical nocturnal circuits, but I have no explanation for why that would happen to the deer outside of deer season.

They probably have a belly full of bird eggs, turkey etc...as well as anything else that starts crawling, and hopping and slithering around in the spring that makes an easy morsel.

Just like Jesus, sometimes you gotta kill some hogs.

I checked the feeder last night at one place I hunt. No hogs in the last 12 days, although the hogs have been spotted several times by the rancher. I didn't see squat while hunting last night. bang

They are very sporadic at our place. Might come through a couple times a week at random times. I was turkey hunting few weeks ago and walked up on a sounder in middle of day rooting around. Didn't even know I was there until one walked up to me. Maybe had them at a feeder a few times. Lots for them to eat.

I was out Monday evening until 11PM, All I saw were a couple of raccoons. One in the distance, and the other at my feeder.

I finally shot the one eating corn at the feeder and gave up.
