Needed to get away from the insanity at the office and all the Rona crap. Headed out Friday to the lease for the first time in two months. Did a little turkey hunting, enjoyed the outdoors and filled feeders this weekend. While hunting Friday evening, I kept hearing movement behind me, but couldn’t figure out what it was. I finally looked down and saw the snake about 3 feet from my chair. I shot at him and mostly missed, but the blast spun it around and it headed directly towards me. It was that point, while I was trying to exit stage left, I took the second shot one handed. The second shot almost decapitated him and put an end to that devil bas**rd. Talk about pucker factor and an instant adrenaline dump. I thought the hunt was over for sure, but I went all in on calling and had three Toms show up. Although my intentions were to take one bird, the second bird picked a horrible time to run behind his buddy. So three shots in total and the snake took two. My back was hurting so I made the decision to sit in a small chair/ stool. After this encounter I’m not sure I’ll sit on the ground any time soon to turkey hunt.

I've already killed three rattlers on my place this spring. Turkeys are just starting to arrive in numbers. Nice birds
