I recently became aware that Winchester made a few M70 classics in the Remington Ultra Mag calibers, and was wondering if any of you guys have seen one or dealt with them personally?
Have a WTB post in the trading post now and thought I'd see if any of you guys have had one and would like to share your experience/opinion on them.

Run far away from the 300 and 7 RUM rounds. PITA rounds for sure, and they are very finicky for accuracy. Never been a fan of the RUM. I think of the RUM as a Ford Pinto with a big block engine and blower sticking out of the hood. It's high horse power, but you can't control it that well.

I recently picked up a spent casing of 7 RUM under a particle board blind (no paint) that I was hauling to my dump. It looked liked my .416. Then a friend on here informed me that it's a .404 necked down. Those poor hill country deer didn't stand a chance, if he could hit anything with it. "Bud!...Light!"

my partner shoots a .300 RUM. He loves it. I hate it. Will clear out the entire range when you pull the trigger.
I know 2 guys that shoot a .300 RUM and one guy that shoots a .30-378.
The .300 weatherby mag is about as big of a .30 cal as I would want in a hunting rifle
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

"Bud!...Light!" @Creekrunner - You are correct the parent casing was a .404, more specifically the .404 Jeffery which is a highly regarded dangerous game rifle. Run far away from the 300 and 7 RUM rounds. PITA rounds for sure, and they are very finicky for accuracy. Never been a fan of the RUM. I think of the RUM as a Ford Pinto with a big block engine and blower sticking out of the hood. The parent casing being the .404 Jeffery means the bolt face and action are good to go for conversion to .404 Jeffery. There are plenty of Remington 700's out there in the RUM calibers but I prefer CRF actions and only recently became aware that Winchester made a limited run of M70's in RUM calibers.... including super grades.
