The 6.8 SPC thread has my brain going. That's probably not a good thing, but what the hell. The Ham'r just received SAAMI approval, so the popularity might take off soon and lead to a good selection of factory ammo. The Ham'r also uses the same bolt face and mags as a .223, so you'd have your choice of bolt action brands to build from and any AR or AICS mag for a .223 will work with no mods. Hmmmmmmmm.

Probably. And it might be a $h!++y idea. But so far in my mind, it makes sense.

Of course it makes sense.

I just picked up my Ruger 6.8 today with a McGowan prefit.

I need to post a pic.

Don’t get me wrong. I think it’s a great idea, along with a bolt 6.8.

I believe every semi-auto caliber should have a bolt option. Of course, I hunted with a .300 Whisper in a single-shot (Encore pistol) for a couple of decades before I found out it sucked...I’m glad all the deer I killed with it didn’t have internet.

That’s really the key. If you hunt too close to town, or in an area with 5G, those deer have too much ballistic knowledge to pull one over on them.

Before someone says "just build a short 308", I already have one. I also have a 300blk and a 300 WM. There's an obvious difference in noise between each of them with the same suppressor. If I could build a 30 cal with the noise of a 300blk, with more energy than a 6.8 SPC, I'm down.

I think this is one of the smartest ideas you have had in years.

What I've read about it, it loses a lot to a short barrel.

I just think a compact suppressed bolt in one of the AR gap calibers make a lot of sense for medium game hunting 200 yards and in which is majority of what I do.

It is a horrible idea! Just think about it! Guys will start paying more attention to their shot placement since they are limited somewhat to the speed of their second shot. Then you will start seeing rifles being made in new materials -----walnut and blued metal! What will happen to the industry? Companies that make lights, lasers, foreward grips, etc., etc. will see drops in sales. Their families will starve! Before you know it scope rings will be made that only require two screws to mount he scope AND they will hold up without being machined out of 4"x4" bar stock. Some clown will discover that a 6X is the perfect magnification for a hunting scope and variables will fall to the wayside. My God! The entire industry will collapse!

I'll let you in on a secrete. I have heard that the WLM (Whitetail Lives Matter) has already filed an injunction in Federal Court to block the production of such radical firearms!

People might actually have to get closer as well. That would be an insane idea but it just might work.

I’m surprised Wilson Combat hasn’t chimed in. They may have already ran this experiment.

They're prolly good with things as they are.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I’ve read it kills them more dead but I’ve never heard a peep out of hog with my 300BLK. But the thread with the Africa pics is impressive not sure if 300BLK would do that. However since Jeremy is only 4’ 5” I’m not sure if he is tall enough to ride the Africa ride.
