We started watching this show season 2 when a guy named Desmon didn't even make it 8 hours on Vancouver island. He saw a black bear and pressed the panic button. We were laughing so hard and have been hooked ever since.

I really enjoyed all of the seasons of Alone. I don't think it's scripted at all. No camera crew on site like Naked and Afraid, only a periodic health check visit by the producers.

White Falcon, if you want to catch Season 1, go to the link below.

If you can't laugh at yourself, give me a call. I'll gladly laugh at you.

I have enjoyed every season. I knew the guy from Lubbock wouldn't make it far in season 6. But I did expect him to make it past the first episode!

I'm not bragging or trying to one up anyone, but with all the equipment that they are allowed to bring,.....I'm 70 and could last a year out there at least. I guess that show needs some truly old mountain men.

I have watched it. I think it is authentic.

Being a life long trapper I have some idea of what they are facing and I doubt I could last more then a couple of weeks, even in my prime.

Being alone would not be an issue, I've spent months by myself on my trapline, but finding food would be a real challenge.
I grew up on a homestead in Northern Alberta. We relied heavily on wild resources. We gathered hundreds of quarts of wild berries to supplement our winter fruit supply. We harvested wild plants for table fare, Wild mushrooms were a seasonal treat and most of our meat came from wild animals.

I still live in the area and still gather as many wild edibles as possible. Even so I doubt I could find enough familiar wild edibles to keep me going for more then a couple of weeks in the situations those guys and gals encounter.

Maybe if one were dropped of early in the year and had all summer to gather and preserve whatever is available, I might last a lot longer. But I know how seasonal so many wild food sources are. From fish runs in the spring to berries ripening in late summer, most of the wild edibles I am familiar with are only available in quantity for a short time, much earlier in the year then the time when those contestants get dropped off.

When food is hard to find one's spirits take a beating. Mood would be the number one concern. Loose your positive outlook and you are pretty close to done.

Do for yourself as much as you can, eat what nature provides as much as you can. This is the key to sleeping well and living long.

The guy that killed the Moose was hurting even though he had plenty of meat to eat, but was really in trouble because the meat was so lean and he needed fat in his diet for energy.
No, all those other survival shows are scripted with a full camera crew following them around.
Naked and afraid is a joke and waste of film.
