Gauging interest... I know quite a few guys go west in the fall.
Thinking about “investing” in a few canvas tent setups with stoves and having them available for guys heading west to hunt, fish, scout, camp, whatever.
13-16’ Bell style (yurt-ish) canvas tents and wood burning stove (if wanted). Looking around, thinking it would work out to about $30-35/day for the tent and a flat rate $50-75, for however long, to add the stove. 13’ would be big enough for 2-3 guys hunting with gear and a stove, or a family of 4 for just camping. The 16’ would be for 3-4 guys and still get the stove in. These are easier to setup than cabin style tents, because there is only a center pole and an A-Frame pole for the door.
Not sure if shipping will be an option since a tent like this will weigh close to 80lbs, not counting the stove.
What say you?

It would be expensive and bulky to ship. Treated canvas is heavy, or at least the one we had was, but this was 50 years ago.

You mean you cant go to cabelas use it once and return it, which is what a lot of people do.
I think it’s a good idea, but think you would need to become a dealer to get a big enough cost break to make ROI quick enough to be worth it.

Totally, tents I’m looking at weigh 80 pounds. Thinking was for people that were driving. You have to pass somewhere around Midland . Or depending on what hunts I had going personally could meet along the way. I obviously haven’t figured out the logistics. I have found one other company that does it, but they are based out of Denver and they will ship some smaller stuff, backpacks, etc that they rent and sell, but you have to pick up the big tents there in Denver.
Denver could be pretty far out of the way if you are driving from TX to hunt in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, or a lot of parts of Colorado. And most people don’t really need a full hot tent setup if you only go on one hunt every year or two, but it’s a game changer when the temps dip. These are obviously base camp tents. I could maybe get into some backpacking setups as well that I would be able to package and ship feasibly, with lightweight titanium wood stoves. Be 1 to 2 man setups.

not sure how the market would support it ... I would think most would be a very short window (Sept.-Nov.) for rentals ... unless there might be more interest during the summer for scouting trips or family outings. Likewise, at $30-35/day, wouldn't take very long to pay for buying one depending on how much use a family/group would use. Personally, if I were to do tent camping I would likely buy one instead of renting as it would pay for itself in 2-3 out of state trips.

I think it’s a good idea if you can make the pickup location more convenient like Lubbock......

Wytex - Yeah OutdoorGeek is the company in Denver that provides wall tents that I referenced in my second post. They don't ship canvas tents, at least not to Texas, so my that's part of my thinking that Denver isn't exactly convenient for a lot of folks.
Pitchfork - Lubbock wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility, it doesn't cost me $30 to drive back and forth to Lubbock.
Not looking to make this a full time thing, just thought it could be a useful resource for some of the southern guys that hunt out west.

Three man gateway cities Lubbock, Amarillo and Big springs. Think it’s a cool idea. If I keep buying packs I might just start renting out some
