Went turkey hunting yesterday . I was very windy and had rained hard that morning . Called for hours from 10 am to 1 pm . I could see some good Toms about 1/2 mile a way , a cross the fence . They did not really seem to be interested , just a few looks . Went back at 5:30 and had a med size tom come running to the feeder within 3 minutes of sitting down and no calling . Took the shot at 165 yards with a 60 grain .223 with a 20 -30 mph crosswind . I did not try a head shot in that wind , went for a butt shot instead . Got him and only lost a bit of thigh to the bullet wound . Got the smoker going .
