With all the chit going on in the world it was a real blessing to be able to spend a week with my wife @ our lease in Cisco Tx area. Lease straddle's
Eastland & Stephens county.
We have been hearing gobblers ever since we arrived on April 4 .Due to rain mud we were shut in for a few days and didn't hunt as hard as we wanted.
But on April 10th it turned into a beautiful day ( best all around since we arrived )
On the 10th as I arrived at our hunting area just as dawn is breaking : I am hearing gobbling already - got set up and started calling. Turkeys answered but were headed North out of our area
kept calling for awhile but nothing was talking to me - maybe it was the accent
Then out of the blue here comes 3 big hens nice and plump but non shooters , watched them for 2-3 min to see what would happen , quit all calling at this time - nothing was answering me anyway- and out popped 4 more hens for a total of 7 big mature hens.
I was getting excited by this time :
And after another 2-3 min of watching all the hens - here comes 2 magnificent Toms - Side by Side in full display strut - They were all puffed out in there pimp daddy colors and were quite the site against a Blue sky and lush green field . colors were very vivid in the morning sun!
Hammered what I thought as the Bigger Tom - Hens & other Tom took off at warp speed.
Then I couldn't believe it when Tom #2 decides to come check on his buddy that was sleeping at this time @ he got to take a nap also .
Guess he didn't get the word on social distancing.
Very awesome morning - My work is done here !!!!!!!!!!!
1) why was two toms still hanging together & appeared to have split a harem of hens between them?
