Curious is anyone has run into this before. I’ve used Nikon mounts before and never had an issue but it appears the set I just got for my ar doesn’t fit. I can get it to slide on the rail but once I get to the receiver it won’t go. Almost like they are out of spec size wise. Maybe it’s just been a week and I’m missing something. Anyone else ever run into this? These are the Nikon 2 piece modern sporting rifle mount/rings.

I bought one a month or so ago that was the same way. It was one of the one piece models. Very tight unlike the others I’ve had before. I ended up being able to slide it in place.

It looks like the base of those rings is set and not adjustable. So, if you back the screw all the way out and they still won't slide on, you'll have to open them up some. I would see where they are binding up or not allowing them to slide on, and try to file down a little on the base of the ring to allow it to fit. I've done this before on some one piece bases like this before. If it's not fitting, it's not fitting by much.

I’ll probably just take them back tomorrow and order something else. Wasn’t my first choice but they were in stock.

A set I purchased a year ago were a little snug. The set I got this year I couldn't push on at all. Both sets were coyote brown. I sanded some of the coating off and they were snug but went on. I think their coating has gotten thicker.
