I realize there are likely dozens of other makers - any user opinions on the All Seasons Timed Protein Feeders?

To be used inside feeder pens the San Saba area - so no Aoudad.

I simply can't afford to keep free-choice feeders filled.

The guys that utilize them at our lease love them.

They must be hitting it pretty hard if you going through it that fast inside a pen. I built a feeder pen last year and was going to buy the All Seasons timed feeder from the out set. The advice I was given is that you only need the timed one for two reasons, one is the reason that you have already described the, the other is to time the feeding activity. I went with All Seasons free choice feeder.

I have All Seasons broadcast and free choice feeders. Very rugged and reliable.

I know some real good people that use them, but timed protein feeders go against my grain.

I have a new 1000lb capacity. Bout 3 weeks old. I put 500lbs in it because that is all the feed store had in stock. Use Purina antler max. after the 500lb had about 12-13 inches from the top. No way will it hold 1000 lb. Fine print said may lose 20% capacity, now they show 18.5% less to cover different brands of feed I guess. I like the feeder but feel like I got cheated paying that much money for somethin and it wasn't as advertised. Just like paying for something that I didn't get. Contacted the dealer and he is going to call the asf when they open back up.

At one time everybody on our lease used them, but now we're down to only two. Our experiences below

1.) Deer are in an strange position/angle when eating from them (heads turned sideways)

2.) The feed will backup, clog everything, and ruin the motors if there's feeding inactivity (there's simply not enough space to throw much feed without it backing up)

Most of our members have went back to free choice or Lamco trough feeders. I went with the 1500# Lamco (will actually hold 33 bags of protein) since I cannot afford to have axis empty my free choice in two weeks

Lamco Trough feeder hear as well. I agree with Titan's #1. I think to keep it as Stand n Fill, it forced them to keep the feed port too low.

I have used a 1000# ASF timed protein feeder for the last 2 years. I have had very good luck with it, that is, after having to replace the first motor that came with it. I can consistently put 900# in the feeder, and it puts out approx 1 pound of feed for every 2 seconds in spin time you set for the day. EX, 10 sec of med spin at morning/noon/night, 30 total seconds, 15 pounds. When the rain comes in sideways, it gums up, and someone has to clear all that gunk, but that is the same in all protein feeders. When the pasture offers a more natural diet, I do see some backup in the hopper, but eventually, the deer come get it if it stays dry. All around, I am a fan.

My 1,000lb AS stand and fill electric protein feeder will hold 850 lbs of protein pellets. I also get some feed hanging up in the corners which further reduces the output by another 100lbs. I had a motor go out during the anthrax outbreak last year due to the feed backing up not allowing it to spin.
