How are the turkey moving in Young county right now, specifically SW Young county? Coming to calls, decoys?

I'm on Fish Creek. Been here since before season opened. Pretty quiet opening day, but gobbling more every day. No problem getting birds to answer my calls, but gobblers are visibly with hens and not leaving them. I did roost one nice one with two hens, set up on it with decoys next morning. Then spent nearly 3 hours watching it chase and fight a lesser dominant gobbler from approaching my decoys or real hens nearby. I could have limited last three days if using a rifle. No hunting pressure as there are almost no shots heard near or far and no traffic on ranch road.

Pretty much same for me. I could get them to answer, but really had no interest in what I had to offer.

I finally got the same bird I was working every day. Went to a single hen decoy and very little light calling. It came in silent then hung up 40 yards out. Well within range of my 10. One is roosted in the creek bottom below me gobbling to Coyotes as I type this.

DQ, did you go? What are you seeing. They were shut down yesterday. I'm in my camp right now and birds started gobbling all around me about an hour ago. I prefer to roost one to hunt, but with the whole lease to myself and these bird making noise, they are begging me to run n gun them today.

They were active with the cool wet weather. Shot bird #2 today.

I had zero luck yesterday! I called and called and just couldn’t get one to respond, hopefully I’ll have better luck in days to come

They are moody. Things can turn in a minute. Keep after it. Good luck!

Lease partner returned today. He had one working in our creek bottom woods that hung up on him. It was responding to him for a while and got close but not close enough for him to see it through the trees. So they are still making noise.
