My old Parker finally bit the big one, makes some kind of ruckus when drawing and being about 20 years old and way behind the times in every function decided not worth spending money on. Decided to pick up a crossbow for something hopefully my wife and my boy will be able to use as well. Looking forward to trying it out ASAP.

If the wife and kid will use it, you might want to look at getting one of the cocking systems for it.

I’ll look how it is to load. They will likely never shoot it without me. I recently partially tore my bicept though and experiencing some issues with that so we will see how it goes even for me.

That one may be a chore to cok at 285 pounds draw. That's over twice the draw weight of my Ten Point.

From my understanding the recurves do have a little higher draw weights. I wanted to go recurve out of the thought it would be more simplistic and longer lasting. Maybe I’m wrong.

Excalibur does make the toughest crossbows and very good lifetime warranty. You can with a spare string and stringer change the string in the field yourself. The biggest downside IMO is noise and poundage to draw it back. To get the same speed as your parker it will take just going off memory about 80+ pounds with the recurve. Excalibur hs some noise dampening things you can get to get the noise down by half or more. '

Got it tonight. Kind of frustrating you have to download instructions to assemble it. The instructions included for cocking include make sure the cocking aid is attached correctly... but don’t include how is/isn’t correct lol

Says it has a 200 lb cocking force half that with the aid I think it doesn’t feel too bad gonna give the instructions another read but looking forward to using it.

That 200 is not reached until the the pegs catch the string.

Got it stuck together the other day and shot it. I’m impressed. I know people get “judged” for buying an x-bow shooting it for a week and going hunting, but in my opinion when compared to vertical bows it really is that easy. Mounted the scope no bore sighting or whatever you would call it at all and with less than 10 shots my wife and I were both putting arrows in golf ball sized spots at 30 yards.

Looking forward to both doing some hunting with it this season.
