I didn't follow the link because what is in quotes isn't news. Shi Zhengli, is the leading researcher at the institute and she is also the leading bat coronavirus expert in the world. She is known worldwide in the science community as China's Bat Woman. She's a rock star in the field.

"Regarding some of the current antiviral trials, studies have shown the antiviral drug Remdesivir is effective against SARS, MERS and other related bat coronaviruses. There is some hope it will also prove to be effective against COVID-19. It’s currently one of 80 trials underway in China and will be included in a US trial at the University of Nebraska. Early results aren't expected until sometime in April.

A point of interest - On February 6, the Wuhan Institute of Virology applied for a patent for Remdesirir for use against COVID-19. The US biotech Gilead Sciences already applied for a patent in 2016 stating it was an antiviral treatment effective against certain coronaviruses but since COVID-19 wasn’t known at the time, it wasn’t included in the patent application.
