Out at the small farm I hunt, the one with the large sounder of shoats. They were coming about 700 pm, but last 2 weeks they're coming in at 6. I missed them by 10 minutes one day last week. Anyway they came up right at 7. Shoats first, and they were very skittish. The closer house on the farm has some yappy little dogs that were out and that didnt help. I couldn't get a shot off and they bolted completely after a couple of minutes. About 715 and they were back, but one of the large adults came in first. All still skittish. She stopped broadside long enough. They all scattered. [censored] - no pig on the ground. Aimed above midline behind the shoulder. After waiting 10 min I went to investigate. Blood present, with a good trail leading into the creek area and into the thick stuff - briers galore, poison oak, privet. Worked my butt off to stay on the trail. Small flashlight, no machete. Followed to to about 200 yards from impact and I couldn't penetrate any more. Going to go back with a machete in the morning. It was a double lung shot. Entrance wound was spraying blood out, exit wound was leaving lung tissue. I know because there were several areas where it passed and there was tissue on the left and spray high on the right. It crashed into trees along the way.

Went out this morning to where I had my last sign, and brought gloves and a machete with me. Found my pig about 25 feet from where I left off. I lost the trail because it had a left bias on its death run but juked right at the end. 140 yards straight line from where I shot it (114 yard shot). Aim was on but it was more quartered than I remembered. She was bloated up already. Bonus video from when i turned her over. I was like "cool" until the smell hit me.
