Hadn't planned on hunting this weekend but the weather let up so Gary and Steve made it in yesterday afternoon. Ranch was dead nothing was moving and still cold a drizzly. Stopped at an old spot we'd called before and gave it a call. As usual I was looking the wrong way when the fun started. Heard Gary's shot and solid 22-250 thump to go with it, looked over just in time to see a big Bob Cat go bouncing through the broom weed. I thought he'd shot the cat but it turned out he shot a yote and we didn't see the cat until the yote spooked/run over it coming to the caller.. This makes 3 cats we've called in with his new caller that made it all the way to the caller undetected. In the last 3 years we've called in one cat using his old caller, called up 3 in the two hunts with the new High Frequency caller, it's a cat calling machine! All three have made it in within just a few yards of the caller, moving through the broom weed like they're under water. Fixing to hit it again here in about an hour, weather should be allot better this morning.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

Our place is covered up with bobs. Can you tell us about this caller you speak of?
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

Yesterday the weather got worse instead of better. Had a yote come in and this time I wasn't looking the wrong way, but I was on the wrong side. It was Gary's time to get out Yoted, should make for a nice picture.

What's the time frame on production? Last I was told by Gary was December.

We were held up by a software problem in November and December. Doing something that has never been done has turned out to be quite a challenge, knocking off another product, not so much. For this reason, we have filed 6 patents over a year ago and dealing with that front as well. I have requested a couple of changes to the prototype that I am currently using and once they get me a working prototype with these changes, I will put into production. In the mean time, calling with this product has really been eye opening. Here's a few things I am seeing. So far I have not had a coyote warning bark at me. Those of you who call a lot will know what I mean...go into an area that you or someone else has been calling, kick on the e-caller and immediately, a coyote that has been spoiled begins aggressively barking. This tells you that they are not coming and that she, most likely, is warning other coyotes to stay away as well. Remember canines can hear frequencies up to 45,000 Hz. When predators respond, they are not checking up as much, rolling straight to the caller. More bobcat response than ever. I think that this is due to the fact that the bobcat can hear to 64,000 Hz and all of the e-callers on the market today peak at 18,000 Hz, proving that they are producing an artificial sound as the typical distress sound exceed 40,000 Hz to near 90,0000 Hz. Yesterday, I called my first cottontail in nearly 60 years of calling. I had been playing a grown cottontail and switched to the baby cottontail and a grown rabbit, female I am guessing came running to the call and sat down within 10 feet and would not leave. Had I not had the Stick Tease, turkey tail feather flopping over the caller, I have not doubt that she would have come much closer. I asked myself "why" had this not happened before so I researched and found that rabbits hear to 42,000 Hz. I am getting 45,000 to 47,000 Hz from this caller so she was 100% convinced that one of her babies was in trouble. She was behaving much like the does do when they have fawns in the area you are calling. Always great fun hunting and visiting with the HWY_MAN and he is correct about cats loving the Ultracaller. Adios, Gary

Thanks for the update Gary. Any idea on a date you go into production?

I want them here by the first of July so that we can get a couple thousand into the hands of folks who have been waiting patiently for them. I hope to have a good supply for the TTHA shows in August as that make it easier for guys to purchase at a "show special" price and save shipping costs. Thanks, Gary

Hi Gary, Do the cats seem to be coming in quicker with new caller as opposed to the conventional e-callers where they seem to often be slow to show themselves?

Cats are cats and they are still using cover when approaching the call. It is difficult to say if they are coming faster because there's no way for me to know how far they have traveled. I did not see the one on Saturday until the coyote came in behind it and spooked the cat (cat jumped sideways). The coyote ignored the cat and went straight to the call. The cat stood still, watching the show until I shot the coyote and then the cat casually looped away. Steve got video of the coyote but doesn't think that he has the cat in the frame. (He never saw the bobcat as he was so locked onto the coyote). HWY_MAN saw the cat after I shot the coyote. Steve did video the Mama Cottontail coming to the Ultracaller. She remained at the caller until I started down the hill to retrieve it. Adios, Gary

Hi Gary, Do the cats seem to be coming in quicker with new caller as opposed to the conventional e-callers where they seem to often be slow to show themselves? I've only got to see one of the cats come in, it had to cross an open spot and a road, it wasted no time. The broom weed is so bad this year they literally move through it unseen and undetected until they're right on top of you. Cat's are the King at using cover and with this broom weed crop they have a canopy of cover, they'll get right on top of you before you see them. We've only got to hunt three days this year due to the weather and had 3 cats come in, multiple hunts in the past with only 2 cats. Seen more cats in the last 3 days than in the last 3 years. Somethings damn sure changed and I'm going to have to say it's the caller.

During the time I was Coyote calling with my dog Blaze as a decoy dog, when she went out to meet up with the Coyote before being called back in, the Coyote would always bark or yip at my dog several times. Then follow my dog in to me on the recall. Without the dog, I have never seen a called Coyote make so much noise. I assume to a Coyote a trained decoy dog is just another Coyote.

You are correct, many of the hand calls go ultrasonic and that is why they are more effective. As you know, getting the sound away from you has its benefits and an e-caller that is producing the actual animal recording is HUGE. Adios, Gary
