I had planned to make my same pot roast. A nice chuck, covered with onions and carrots, then dusted with a package of Lipton's Onion Soup. Walmart was out of all Lipton soups. I have a can of beef broth, lots of onions, and even some minced onions. Reckon it will be fine without the onion soup? Any ideas about adding a little panache?

I did a pork butt recently in the crock...same problem, no onion soup mix. I just added whatever I had on hand. Come out good but not as good as it would have.

The soup mix can be replaced with dried diced onions, beef bouillon, onion powder, parsley flakes, celery seed (I had to use celery salt...a small amount), paprika and ground black pepper.

I've found that pot roast slices easier after they are refrigerated. Plan to slice all of it with my next dinner. Maybe Saturday. I'll be eating leftovers of and on for over a week.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy some Uncle Chris's Steak Seasoning. Season liberally and add beef broth and boom......tasty!

Instead of soup mix I use pork or brown gravy packets.
