Who in heck cares about the law. take it in your own hands. If something is a present danger, either evade it or eliminate it. Plain & simple. If it is really a danger, then those two options should be paramount in your mind. Don't confuse yourself with what ifs and such - protect yourself, your family, your loved ones, your property and go on with life.

Your daughter is going to be just fine. That's your job as her father. Don't make too much of this.

Glad you and the family are ok. I carry a lot more than I thought I ever would, but who knows you might be worse off had you shot a dog that didn’t do any more than bark growl and scratch your dog and scare your kids. I’m a big fan of SSS but a neighborhood is different. Best to be prepared as you can be though.

My wife wasn’t a fan of me having a chl and using it but the first time we came across some sketchy folks down town at lunch she was pulling on my arm get it out lol.

Take this same exact story, keep every detail the same but 1. Insert you having a gun. Would you rather:

-Outcome #1
OR
-a scenario where you’re running back to your family, only now you’re popping rounds into a couple dogs?

Which one has the most effect on everyone?

I have a neighbor who hasn't spoken to me since I told her I would gladly shoot her dog the next time it came into my yard and began barking and growling at me. She tried to defend it by saying it was an abused dog that she picked up at a local shelter. Don't take me wrong, I admire people who get rescue pets because our kids have done it with very successful results. However, it can become a problem when people think they can take an animal with severe behavioral problems and believe that because they see themselves as better people, they can make them loving to everyone.

If not a gun, at least carry a pocket knife.

Don't make the situation bigger than it is either, children feed off their parents reactions.
