Just wondering. Took these photos off Highway 77 in the Yturria area yesterday.

No chance I would ever be hunting in this area, so just wondering. Although I guess I could conceivably harvest one with the truck (I’d rather not).

I’ve seen Axis, Sika, Fallow, Blackbuck, Red Deer, and a bunch more species in low fence situations, but these are the first Waterbuck that were not behind a high fence.

They would rather go under a fence than jump. The high fences you have seen are there to keep predators (2 & 4 legged out) Daniel

Can't answer for the waterbuck in TX but I sure saw them jump a fence in RSA. We were headed from one area to another to go for Vaal Rhebok and came across 2 that were beside the road (what is often called the "long farm" in RSA) and when we passed them they sure cleared the fence they were next too. I've seen eland and kudu do the same thing. Watching 1500 lb eland bull easily clearing a fence is pretty cool.

My jaw hit the floor when I saw an eland jump an old game fence in RSA flat footed.
