I would suggest checking them against eBay. Search based on the UPC information on the boxes and see what they sold/listed for.

I looked up the first one on Midway USA. Despite being new in the box, most buyers will not pay retail to an individual when they can order it from a business. Risk of having some kind of problem with it after the deal is done. Unable to have a business to return to if there is a problem after using it. Warranty issues if they did not buy it from an authorized dealer, etc. If I were in the need for this scope, I would only be able to take that risk if it was at least $100 to $200 less than that $849 I could get it for directly. I I had one to sell I would start by asking $750 for it on that same thought. What other's wanting this scope are willing to chance on the discount is going to be more or less than that. Common with online forums and especially ebay some will pay more than retail on an impulse buy and be happy to pay it.

I'm different in this scenario. I will pay close to retail on some optics because most manufacturers honor the warranty regardless of where it came from. Now that's not to say that some (Leupold) couldn't prove to be difficult. But I would say 99% of the time, the manufactures (I.E. Leupold, Nikon, Meopta, Minox, Zeiss, Vortex, Weaver, and others will 100% honor the warranty because they want the end-user to continue to operate with their equipment than opt for the competition.

There is a good amount of competition, even with the investment groups owning multiple lines, like Bushnell whom has subsidies with Tasco, Unle Mikes, Hoppes, and the list continues. If I found something that was essentially new, and the OEM box was still handy, along with all the contents from the factory, I see no reason why the person who is selling couldn't get close to retail.

I can see that Skylar. Especially with Bushnell as the warranty is based on manufacture date. I have had a factory defective Bushnell scope before, so I really don't want to buy one from an individual and risk having to send it to the factory a week later instead of doing a dealer return. I'm not familiar with Leopold's warranty. But to answer his question on resell value of a current scope available new, when your trying to find an individual looking for that particular scope, most not familiar with dealing with those companies on warranty, and not shopping from a full website full of scopes, IMHO your going to have to come off retail a bit to attract most, not all, but most buyers to your scope.

Stuck at home bored like everyone else around here and my part time gig for several years was an ebay reseller for mostly firearm related items so.....

I looked what individuals are selling on ebay. The first three is probably a small dealer as they have a few of these listed. One sold $779.95 free ship, Two sold best offer hidden price somewhere under 779.95 w free ship. An individual sold one new in box with havalon knife $742.99 free ship/free returns. And one Individual that did an auction for Brand New sold $570 and $12 ship. So my $750 guess was fairly close to what they are selling for secondary market.

The Leupold is discontinued. No idea what true retail was. Too many sold on ebay recently to list them all. Obvious large dealer, optics company, high feedback type sellers have brand new sold from 999 to 1399. One individual sold one New 899 free ship. Used ones sold down to around $750.

If you put that Bushnell up for sale, you might want to include that the warranty is based on manufacture date and thus transferable. You would have to look it up on the Bushnell site to find out how many years.

I know the Bushnell Forge scopes were on sale every where at cheap prices, along with a rebate from Bushnell. I bought a 5-20x44 SFP from Cameraland 11 days ago for $199,plus a $58 rebate from Bushnell.
I don't think the scope that Buzz has will sale for anything close to $750. You can buy a new DMR II for just a little more.

He can if he puts it on ebay. Those price quotes I posted were from recent sold auctions, so someone is buying them. Cameraland still has your scope, a good deal yes, but it was marked down from $500. This is one of the reasons why I said an individual would have to put up a discount for the same scope over a business that has the same scope along side several other similar models, many on sale. Such as cameraland. I have a particular scope and reticle I like right now and intend to put the same one on all my rifles. Only it's long discontinued and I only wish to buy them new. They don't show up very often, but when they do, I have only had to pay around half of original retail. So I will agree with you somewhat. When a scope get's discontinued and clearanced out, most do lose a lot of resell value, but the forg he is selling is currently available. I sure would not hold it until it gets discontinued and clearanced everywhere, and then expect to get that for it. Unless it was something special with a cult following or highly sought after.

The Forges were heavily discounted a couple of weeks ago. If you can get anything approaching 600-700, take it and run.

Thanks guys...and I did apologize for my "toe"

These values are about what I was seeing.

I forgot I also have a Leupold Mark 4, 4.5-14x40, LR/T, duplex matte #56140. I think its worth around $600.

These scopes are all mint., I may try and bundle
