Actually, I think he's from Baltimore- but same point nonetheless.

He was one of the Key Note speakers at a conference I attended a couple of years ago. He told about his first dirty job and how he latched on to the concept when he was young reporter in SF. You can probably find it online somewhere so the only spoiler I will provide is that it involved cleaning the sewers in SF. Hilarious.
