Says reward "up to" $1000....? They're just trying to be responsible. Each bullet hole he has in him deducts $200.

Who cares if there is more to the story? Trespassing with a firearm is a felony.

Who cares if there is more to the story? Trespassing with a firearm is a felony. It is, but it is a victimless felony that usually isn't pursued with this sort of vigor.

No victim, my bottom. "Yes honey, go walk on our property with the notion of complete safety. Don't worry about the idiot out there who has trespassed before with a gun. He is harmless and not a real issue. Feel safe and \cavort around the property unencumbered."

Who cares if there is more to the story? Trespassing with a firearm is a felony. It's a Class A misdemeanor. Crime-Stoppers money comes from fines paid by criminals and fundraising events. A thousand dollars isn't out of line on this type of case. It will be super easy to file too.

3) a Class A misdemeanor if: …… (C) the person carries a deadly weapon during the commission of the offense.
My bad. I thought the big monied, big property guys had gotten trespass with a firearm or even to shoot across a fence line to be a felony.
Dang, wrong again,

Was there somebody hurt? Property damages claimed? Nope, hence the point I was making that this seems to be unusual that they are offering this reward for this when normally such transgressions would be under the radar to the general public. This guy isn't reported to have broken into a building, stolen anything, killed anything, etc. People get caught trespassing on camera all the time, sometimes with guns, but we virtually never see posts like the one above for something this low level. When you go to the OCG page on Facebook... ...how many other similar posts do they have? They have several involving actual killed game, but not for just trespassing (armed or not). Don't get me wrong, I am all for this guy getting caught and prosecuted. It just seems unusual in that no damages are being claimed, no animals killed.

I pay informants a lot more than that for information. Think about the Game Warden personnel hours it takes to go around showing that picture to all feed stores and processors ect ect. A grand of money that the taxpayers didn't have to contribute to and a simple case to file equals a good deal all day.

In this case, they may be publicizing the reward because they have such good images. Someone who sees it is likely to know him, they just need something to get them to talk. Or there may be more to it, or both.

well, I've had a property leased for grazing and hunting over 30 years and it is landlocked with no road frontages. 2nd weekend in November an armed trespasser was found on trail cameras and actually checking feed level in my deer feeders in Nov. We do not live on the property but Dad lives less than a mile away and is on that property daily for livestock. BAM, just before our annual renewal at end of December with distant non resident landowner, we are told landowner deciding to do something different. We spent days moving cattle panels, feed lots, deer stands and feeders off the property. Fast forward a couple of weeks and we find out that property was leased to someone else for hunting and a 16 yr old kid shot and killed a Doberman in the dog pen of a neighboring resident that raises those dogs commercially and that resident's property adjoins open pasture to this leased land and its open pasture to get down to hunting areas. kid told sheriff he dropped his rifle and it went off. damn killing the dog inside kennel. There are lots of hogs and coyotes in this area. I have secured the permission to hunt 50 acres that enters beside said former leased property and then runs the southern fence line boundary of the huntable area (this 50 acres is a good game tract) and I'll be posting and purple painting it for sure as these new leaseholders I figure will put up deer blinds in the pastures shooting towards my new permissioned tract because that is where the deer, hogs and coyotes come from. SO NO THERE IS NO VICTIMLESS TRESPASS CRIME WITH A RIFLE. Landowner and in my case leaseholder and neighboring landowner all victimized to some degree.
