With all these folks staying at home I know people are dusting off the cook books since most meals are being prepared at home. We need to post up what is getting cooked to give people different ideas of things to cook.
I'll start. Going to make hog/venison chili this week. And before someone says beans can't be in chili I don't care!
2 lbs ground venison 1lb wild pig breakfast sausage
2 sweet onions 3 cloves garlic 1-2 shiner beers 3 jalapeños 2 hatch peppers 1 can diced tomatoes 2 cans kidney beans 1 can rotell 1 can tomato paste 3 tablespoons molasses
Season, then brown the ground meat, garlic and onions Skim off excess grease Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil Heat covered on low 1-2 hours. Heat uncovered to desired thickness.

Beans or no beans in chili.
Tomatoes or no tomatoes in gumbo.
My mom simply said it like this:
"The cook determines what is cooked and how it is cooked. If you don't like the cooking, then you can start doing the cooking."
Needless to say my mother was a fantastic cook!
Luck favors the prepared mind.

Might be sacrilidge to some, but one of my favorite ways to eat lobster (well, langostina in this case) is chunked up in mac 'n cheese. Made this last night for lunch today.
Had a couple langostina tails in the freezer. Thawed, split the shell, rubbed with the end of a stick of butter and sprinkled on some Old Bay for the broiler. Pulled it out and let it rest a bit while I made a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese. The trick with the Mac and Cheese is to not add the milk. Add the whole stick of butter you rubbed the langostina tails with. Sprinkled a little extra Old Bay into the Mac and cheese while the butter and cheese stuff were melting, then chunked up the langostina tails and mixed 'em in. Nice big chunks that you can taste. Whole thing takes like 15 minutes and is nearly the perfect bachelor meal.

I've been cooking up a storm lately. Homemade breads, Lasagna, Mojo pork for Cuban sandwiches, brisket and brisket pizza. Definitely going to gain some weight during this quarantine. If anyone has a wild pig shoulder Mojo pork is a damn fine thing to make with it. It’s not my recipe, but it’s so good I don’t have the heart to change it. Mojo Pork

Don't worry about the weight gain! Because of this social distancing thing, I didn't go to the gym this morning. That's 7 years in a row!

Sounds great! Beans aren't supposed to be in chili. Put 'em on the side. (Or wherever you darned well please, since it YOUR chili!!)

I'm baking my own bread until "further notice." These are my first 2 loaves, and I got the recipe from the King Arthur Flour website. They have TONS of recipes for you to use.

Indefinitely like anything else. Might not taste awesome but I haven’t seen anything that says food will make you sick from being frozen too long.

King Arthur flower has some terrific recipes. All of their breads come out great. Got a sourdough starter going to day since i'll be running low on yeast in a week at this rate.

I may need to pick up some yeast and flour. Wish we still had our old bread machine - wonder if I could make a loaf in the air fryer?

I've never had a bread machine. I just make it in the oven and get great results. Never used a bread machine. Is it worth having another kitchen appliance?

I've made up my mind that I'm going to make at least one, if not two loaves of homemade bread every day until I run out of flour and/or money. I'll freeze the loaves for some day in the future when they might really be needed. The loaves freeze very well, and will last up to 4 months in the freezer. On the day you want to bake them, set 'em out and let 'em warm up to room temperature, wrap 'em in foil and put in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes, you're good to go!!
