Anybody have experience or suggestions for or against hunting NM Mule Deer in Units 29,30,31,32 and/or 33? That pretty much takes in SE Quadrant of state. Thanks.

I know this is late since you posted this just an hour and a half before the application deadline on Wednesday...
I've hunted 31 for mule deer with a muzzleloader.
Are there big deer in the unit? Yes.
Are there a bunch of them? No. And that's just deer in general. Sparsely populated.

I've hunted Unit 30 for 21 years. Unit 31 doesn't have a lot of deer but you're more likely to see a huge desert muley though. The only thing about 31 is there's a lot more oil field business than before.
