Hunting in the Wise Co Hog Contest last month, this Boar was hanging around edge of wheat field while I sat in a ground blind hoping a sounder would come out. It started getting dark so I decided to take the shot. Sorry about the horrible phone picture. I didn't realize it was so blurry, I should have taken more pics but it wasn't a very big hog so I didn't bother. You can see the exit wound.
I used my range finder back to the blind. 321 yards. The hog fell where he stood.
.308 168 gr Sierra Big Game bullet in Outback Ammo.
I usually take 3 or 4 pics with my phone for each shot that I want. Without my glasses on, I don't know which are in focus or just slightly out of focus. I know if I take multiple images, one of them will be right, LOL.
That's a nice shot, I like .308 with a bullet of that weight. The 165 gr. Hornady I shoot has done well. Hog contest? How was it set up, and what did it take to win?
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I am new to the THF, surprised there isn't a lot about this contest on here. My 2 man team killed a bunch of hogs, several in the 250# class. I killed one in January I wish was still there in February, might have placed 3rd. My wife keeps saying, "Don't you wish you wouldn't have killed that big Boar and saved it for the contest"
Entire month of February. Open to Texas and OK. The winning pig 368# sow paid $30,250 , 2nd and 3rd paid pretty well also. Long cutter paid something. $100 entry per hunter. No high fence, no dogs, no helicopters, no traps, weigh in within 24 hours of kill in Bridgeport. Polygraph test if cashing check.
The last Tuesday in March Bryant Gumbel will host a segment on HBO Real Sports about the contest.
Shooting rest or no rest? If you used a rest, I would be curious as to what type worked well for you.
TIA
I use a Primos Gen3 Trigger Stick. They are pricy but it's been worth the money to me. I like the tall version, all the way down works for me sitting ( need a fairly tall chair ) and I can stalk with it and shoot standing up with it extended. Lightweight and easy to pack in.
EDIT: My OP should say Sierra 168gr Game King not Big Game.
