All I know is that when I was driving around in backwoods Illinois, I came upon a BBQ place. Their sign said Authentic Texas BBQ. I was with other folks, somI couldn’t try it out. If a claim to fame is based on Texas BBQ, that tells me something.

Mad Jacks in Cloudcroft, New Mexico should have made the list.
He started in Lockhart years ago and exploded when he moved to New Mexico.
Good to see Smittys in Lockhart make the list.
They have great BBQ.

i eat Truth every other week in Houston. Know the owner, young guy, knows his stuff. Brisket is unreal, and the turkey is the best i have ever had. BTW get the tatertot casserole as a side.

Surprised Tender (the original in Celina) isn't on there. It's all personal preference, but it blows some of the others, both in and out of state, out of the water.

I'm a fan of Bolivar Street. Great brisket. Last time I went though they were closed. Sign on the door said they should be open . Not sure what was going on. Went to Babe's and got stuffed so all was good.

this list has bbq places in new york lol Ha there is FANTASTIC BBQ in NYC. Most joints are relocated Texans or learned to cook here in Texas. I've even found great BBQ in Seoul Korea. I've been to 1/3 of this list and only disagree with one of them.
