I remember seeing a thread on here recently that mentioned different brands of electric chainsaws. I inherited an electric chainsaw and just assumed that is wasn't as good as gas. Well, I took down a large tree today with the electric and I will never crank a stupid gas chainsaw for the rest of my life. I'm done! Electric only for me!

In town I have used an electric since 1975, No noise, light weight, you control it, it doesn't control you.

It just depends on what you need a chainsaw for. A week ago I heard a tremendous crash from back in the woods. A few days later I found that a huge oak fell and hit a big oak which fell and hit another big oak. Smushed my fence too. Lord what a mess. The good news is that I don’t have to worry about where my firewood comes from for the next few years. And any of you that want to cut some firewood can PM me. However, I just don’t see anybody attacking that tangled pile of oak trees with an electric chainsaw and making any serious progress.

I’ll be all over that pile soon, when things dry out a bit, with the MS250 and the Farm Boss.

I have an electric 8 inch pole chainsaw and Poulan 16 inch electric chainsaw. I am very happy with both of them and use them around the house and on the farm. I just load my generator up and i have access to both saws as needed. I also have a gas powered saw but i havent pulled it out of the barn in a long time as the electric saws are lighter and easier on the old back. Not to mention much more quiet than gas.

I cut a cord of wood with one after the June storms. Just need a lot of bar oil but worked great. Very surprised. Cut some very big logs.
