Had some time to kill this morning with the off and on rain so I decided to check a small creek and see if any Crappie and Sandbass wanted to play today. This creek is small enough in some places you can pretty much jump across it but it produces some good fish at the right times of the year.
Anyway I got to fish for about an hour and a half and caught probably 15 Sandbass. Just when I was about to leave I set the hook into something big and knew right away it wasn't no dang Sandbass. Took probably 15-20 minutes to land it on 6 pound line but it ended up being a big ole Carp. It was fun on the little ultra light! 10 casts later it happened again but this time there was no stopping the fish. He pretty much took all but the last 10 yards of my line before I grabbed the line and yanked it to break the fish off rather than loose all my line. I assume it was a much bigger Carp but I never actually saw it. When I set the hook he went upstream and I never even got close to slowing him down.
Brought 8 of the biggest ones home for a fish fry later this week. Not bad for a tiny little creek.
