I was looking to buy a top round or eye of round roast to test out in the fryer, but our tiny grocery store didn't have such a thing. I settled on a 2 pound top-sirloin steak. I let it get up to room temperature, cut in half, spread generous amounts of Monterey Steak seasoning on both sides. Put the pieces into a large ziplok bag, poured in a cup of Tamari sauce, and let it sit for an hour. Preheated the fryer to 400 degrees. Put the steak pieces in the basket and set the timer for 12 minutes. At the 6 minute mark I tested it, looking to get to 155 degrees, and flipped the pieces. (It was at 130 degrees at that point.). Let it go for another 3 minutes and tested it again, and it was right at the 150 mark. So rolled on for the last 3 minutes. Let is sit on the cutting board for 10 minutes and then sliced it up.

It really came out beautifully, imho:

Sides were baked potato and wilted spinach, and all washed down with a very nice Cabernet Savignon.

Stub, my wife agrees with you that I'm having too much fun with the fryer! But it does such a good job on everything I've tried to cook in it, that I just keep on experimenting. I've got plans now to try a really good piece of meat, like a ribeye and/or a NY Strip. Since the weather forecasters are guesstimating that we are in for several days of rain coming our way, getting out to the BBQ grill and smoker is going to be rather unpleasant, so it will be a good time to try preparing those cuts of meat. I'll let everyone know how they turn out.

I've never cooked a bad meal in mine. I've done ribeye that came out so damn tender. Good job on the steak!
