Has anybody used one of these? Walmart carries them and they're made in Austin.

They look to be built on the same idea as the Alamo Feeders and EZ Feeders at Bucc ees and the Rockin 2 Industry Feeders.

I'm just wondering how well built they are.

No experience here, but it looks like they have plenty of dealers. I'd go look at them. It should be pretty easy to tell how well they are built. They look good. It would depend on how sturdy they were for me to but one. The timer would make a difference as well. They look like the motor and timer are well protected and no exposed wires. Price is OK too.

I would recommend the Bucc-ee's feeder at $399 and 600# capacity. If you want to buy once/cry once, go with one for Ramball. You'll never buy another one.

we are running several of them and they are extremely well made... The buccees one lasted maybe a year and half before varmits chewed every hanging wire, even after we sleved in conduit several times.... Buccees is economical but not well built... If you can find a judge get one.. He only makes a certain amount each year..Cabelas use to have them free shipping...just had to call and ask for them./..

They are the modern design that you want being they don’t have a varmit cage that knocks half your corn to the ground in a pile......Alamo Feeders are the same design except they are built like a tank and you don’t have to assemble anything just back up your pickup and slide it out.....Roger runs adds in this classified section and you won’t find better customer service....

If you are anywhere near pflugerville you can get a better deal if you pick up at their warehouse. Reach out them directly and ask what you can pick one up for if you come to the warehouse.

They are good feeders but not as well made as Rockin 2, with that said Rockin 2 would make it through a cat 4 tornado.... so it defines over built and lifetime or 2

Personally I’d spend a little extra money and get 1k lb feeder.

Several years ago the judge was made at a place in Rockwall Texas by the name of special products and mfg. I know because I used to work there. The engineers used to test them with corn in their back parking lot. SPM made many sizes and I was able to get a 800# prototype for free. I've had it in the field for about five years with absolutely no problems. It holds up well to the outdoor environment and animals. I really expected the big boars to bang it up bad but that's not been the case. It was a very good feeder then but SPM doesn't make them anymore and I don't know who does. Good luck

Be aware that the list of Judge feeder dealers on their website IS NOT CORRECT. I called 3 of the listed dealers and not a one had one and one said they had not had any of the feeders in several years.

Had a couple but not anymore. If within a pen to keep hogs out then they great.
if big hogs get to it they bend the big varmint proof plate and is very hard to fix and this interferes with the spinner.
I liked a lot but have to be in a pen, my opinion.

mseanw is the varmint plate too thin? Is the way it is attached to the feeder inadequate?

Thanks

I recently went to the coast to go fishing and stopped by a place in Seguin Texas to look at the Judge feeders because there were some places
that were along the way that supposedly had these feeders (according to the web site showing the locations) but like mentioned above they did not
have them. The Seguin Location had them. I looked the feeder over real carefully and here are my comments on the feeder (understand just my opinion) :

1. feeder holds 500 lbs not 600 lbs
2, fairly well built- somewhere between a Bucees feeder and a LLAMCO (cannot comment on the feeder by Rockin because I do not own one but sounds like a good one)
3. cost also between the Bucees and the LLAMCO (feeder was about $550)
4. solar panel is on the side but has different tilt angles
5. Motor and wiring inside
6. Plate seemed to be a little thicker than the Bucees but not near as thick as the LLAMCO
7. plate is a little higher up than the Bucees since feeder sits up a little higher so larger sized hogs can go under it and possibly damage the plates more
8. I was on the bubble about getting one but did not get it at this time - still debating it, need to add a cross bar like the Bucees to keep big hogs out from the underside

Link that may help find a location but be sure to check and make sure they are still selling them. The place in Seguin got a new shipment in.

too thin, unless they have changed the design in last 3 years....it warps when hogs mess w it and then spinner drags on it
again, maybe better now, was good except for that.
i went with HB stand and fill..been flawless
