Friday evening was cool- temp was in the upper 40's with a steady south wind. I set up in the Meadow box at dark and didn't see anything but coons and armadillos for 2.5 hours. Around 9 or so I saw movement at the south end of the field- 2 sows and 10 piglets were on the neighbor's side of the fence and they were darting back and forth- looking like they wanted to come in, but hesitant. They eventually came into the field but were skittish and would not come any closer than 175 yards. The lead sow was twitchy and she finally started to the west headed out of the field so I popped her as she was walking then it was piggie pandemonium- piglets scattering in every direction. I shot at a couple more and am pretty sure had good hits but the piglets all rallied up behind their current or newly-adopted mom and hauled it into the neighbor's field. The first sow was DRT.

Saturday evening it wasn't as cool and I got a late start and went to the Big field. It's not really that big (10 acres or so) but one of the boys named it that and it stuck.
The blind is on a terrace, and there's 3 feeders out in front- one to the left at 200 yards, one in front at 90 yards, and one to the right at 220 yards.

Didn't see anything but a load of deer- probably 2 dozen in all, and a single coyote trotting through until around 9 or so. A single boar came in the south end of the field and walked right towards the blind. I shot him when he got at 150 yards. He's the two-color one. Then didn't see a thing for a bit so I went into energy-conservation mode (nap-time) and woke up at 11. Started scanning the field and boar # 2 came in from the south and circled downwind of the 200 yard feeder. He was hesitant about going to the feeder, but he finally let the corn overpower his brain and he went in. He's the black one.

So all in all it was another fine weekend. I really wish we had about 3 more months of February weather, though.........
