Neither, even though he was an "Outlaw" he had better ideals than either political party, Republican or Democrat. I tend to agree. If someone is a good entertainer or they have a song I like, I don’t really care.
To be determined

Just another person who tried to find his way and place in the world. Used the talents he had to try and find what he was looking for. Made good decisions and bad decisions. Had good times and bad. He hurt and he hurt others. Just like all of us.
Not a huge fan, but he had some good ones.

"I wear the black for the poor and beaten down Livin' on the hopeless, hungry side of town I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime But is there because he's a victim of the times..."
"I wear it for the sick and lonely old, For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold I wear the black in mourning for the lives that could have been Each week we lose a hundred fine young men..."
-"Man in Black"
Doesn't sound like something a conservative would sing about.

Doesn't sound like something a conservative would sing about. You're right. He's a liberal. Singing about stroking those heart feelers making that money but nothing changed.

I just assume anyone in the entertainment business is more on the liberal side of the scale. I really don't bother myself with their beliefs as long as they don't spew it to the world like anyone cares what they think. I would say the vast majority of them are liberals, a much smaller percentage are moderates, and a minuscule amount ( if any) are actually conservatives. If we're looking for like minded folks in the entertainment business we're all going to be very disappointed. As far as Johnny Cash, I think he was more of a moderate overall, but it doesn't matter to me either way.

Their opinions are offered as Freedom of Speech. One of the Basic Rights we are entitled to. Many a good men and women have died defending that right.

Sounds pretty Christian to me. Johnny Cash was a Christian, one that fell off the "wagon" of Chritsianity on a regular basis, but he still loved his fellow man. "I wear the black for the poor and beaten down Livin' on the hopeless, hungry side of town I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime But is there because he's a victim of the times..."

Label Cash as you see fit. The man loved his God his country and his wife. Unlike many liberals screaming loudly these days.

Doesn't sound like something a conservative would sing about. Maybe your view of "conservative" isn't accurate. I'd say those are things most people agree with regardless of political ideology. Wars have been started and supported by both parties for generations. The left has done a great job of brainwashing people of believe they're the party of the middle class, the working man, but they've done nothing to help them. Baltimore, Chicago, New York, etc... That's why you assume those lyrics are anti-conservative and pro-left.
