Buddy of mine , his daughter has a child in Anna, ISD. Her teacher sent a note home stating she was leaving for 10 days in JAPAN and would be back in the classroom the day after she gets back.

Make her stay home for a month, if it's that concerning, I'm sure other parents could do something, or tell the school board.

If parent keeps their student out for 21 days (home schools) after lady comes back , she will be charged with truancy according to Anna ISD.

I’m sure the teacher had this trip planned before the virus. Some times thing like this get blown out of the water. How do you know another students parent hasn’t traveled overseas to an area affected and that kid isn’t a carrier now? No guarantees in life,

NO!!!! I don’t care wether they are vacationing in Japan or Kentucky. They have no business touching the kids.

The only thing I question is the note itself and why the teacher sent it. Teachers can take personal days (5 state personal days and most districts give 3-5 local days) at their discretion (in this case she would only miss 2 school days since Spring Break is March 7-15 for Anna ISD) and they don't have to tell anybody where they are going. Why not just have an out-of-office reply on her email explaining that she is out and will not be able to return emails until March 16th?

That being said, I personally wouldn't got to Japan right now, because it if they outbreak continues to flare up in Japan, their is a possibility of the US government or the airlines themselves canceling flights to-from Japan.

I have an upcoming flight to Japan for a layover, My original flight plan was to go to Hong Kong first, but I was going to be put in 2 week quarantine in Philippine once I arrived, last month I was able to change my flight to DFW to Japan and onto Manila. Since their is a travel advisory the airlines allowed me to change flight at no charge, it worked out pretty good I got a better flight time wise and I don't have to go to China. I don't care for China one bit
