As the question states, how often do you shoot some clays? What kind of shot are you?

Not nearly enough practice, not nearly a good enough shot! When I do get in the practice the difference is big. When I hunted a lot more I was a waaaayyyyy better shot, obviously. Now I lament, reminisce about those days, but I don't get too upset about it.

Sometimes I'll shoot a box of clays a week or two before hunting season. Sometimes I don't.
I've honestly never noticed any real difference in my shooting when I've practiced or not.

Depends on the year. Two years ago, my wife and I went a lot during the summer. Last year, we didn’t go at all.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

Usually participate in a couple of shoots throughout the year. Sporting clays. This year I plan to shoot a lot more. I found a place to do it right next to my house, about 5 miles and I want my son to get involved. Typically shoot high 80's to low 90's on a course.

We shoot clays once in August, After that it’s all live birds. I average 22-23 out of every 25, now if only I could shoot live birds with those numbers.

Shooting is a perishable skill....I don't get to hunt/shoot anywhere near as much as I used to. It shows when I do get to go....I've learned to have lower expectations of my abilities based on the limited amount I have to dedicate to keeping my skills honed...

These days very very rarely.
I’ll do a skeet shoot as a social event about twice a year.
Most days I do better on birds than I do on clays
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

March through August I shoot shotguns pretty regular except for some breaks for spring turkey. I enjoy sporting clays but I shoot a lot of skeet too. When the days get longer 1-3 days a week. Right now just on the weekends. From September through February I mostly just hunt.

Where does everyone shoot? I normally go to elm fork bc it's close and they have multiple courses. But it can get crowded on the weekends.
Any other recommendations in the dfw area?

This is the only non-hunting shooting event I participate in....and I'm not there for the shooting..... It's time to sign up for this years New Hope Sporting Clay Shoot fundraiser. This event is always a blast and is open to both experienced and novice clay shooters. In addition to the sporting clay shoot we have a live auction and lunch provided by 407BBQ. Please consider signing up as an individual or put together a 4-man team. PM me if you have any questions. Information and entry can be dome at the following link: https://www.newhopeequine.com/events

Never. I shot sporting clays with some customers one time in the API. Hit 96 with my 20 A5. I thought it was fun but too expensive if I were on my own dime.

When y'all practice, do y'all just shoot whatever shells at Academy, or do you practice with the steel shot you use in the blind?

When y'all practice, do y'all just shoot whatever shells at Academy, or do you practice with the steel shot you use in the blind? I shoot cheap reloads that I do myself, I'm betting sporting clays ranges will not allow steel due to the ricochet possibility (wild rabbit), skeet and trap ranges might allow steel shot

When y'all practice, do y'all just shoot whatever shells at Academy, or do you practice with the steel shot you use in the blind? That's really a good thought. If you shoot steel, and you practice with lead a lot, you might start the season leading birds too far out front. Lead holds its velocity much better than steel, or maybe it doesn't make enough difference to notice.

I practice with lead reloads. No downside I have noticed.
