What's the name of the service that finds you the best rate? TXU is offering me 7.1 per KWHR and I want to see if there is something cheaper.

I think its a little higher in my area. Best I could find was 11.3¢ per KWH.

It's higher here too. I'm currently at 11.2 so the 7.1 is looking pretty good.

You need to go to West Dallas, See how the locals get free power. They hot wire a line, I knew a dude living in one of my uncles rent house, he hadn't paid for power for years and he never got caught..

Remember you can't always compare the rate you're quoted with the rates that others in your area are paying. All the providers are given your usage history so they can use it to quote you a rate based on how much electricity you use on average. People who use a lot more electricity will naturally get a better rate.

Not only do you want to compare rates, but also watch out for those fees that you'll be charged if your usage falls below some level during any given month.

We were with Cirro for several years but switched to Constellation last year. Just got an email that our next bill will be $40 and some change.

My rate goes up now if I use less than 1000 KWH a month. It was 11.6 last month.

These rates are apples to oranges. The 7.1 is the actual rate per KWH. The 11.2 has added the oncor fees based on X KWH used.

If you read THF's rules you'll see that only Oxner is allowed to start threads about utility billing. Also, you failed to post a low quality picture of your current bill.

Sorry, MikeC. Glad you got your answer though.

Our delivery fees come through Texas/New Mexico and was quoted the 7.1 that included the T/NM fees. I'll search a little deeper but it it's a legit 7.1 I doubt I'll be able to beat it. I've got a number to call for my current providers Customer retention department. I'll see what they have to offer as well since their online chat said they can offer me a special rate to stay.

I 100% back energy ogre. They always find deals I never could on Power to Choose. I've been using them for three years now and have yet to have an electric bill higher than half of what I was paying prior to signing up with them. My Dad is stuck in his ways and didn't want to give Energy Ogre a shot because they require to keep a CC on file. Finally he gave in and sent me a text that he saved over 50% on his bill and to admit defeat. Might be the biggest bonding moment we've ever had. ha

I’ll ask the wife when I get home. Not sure what our rate is, but we haven’t paid over $60 for a month in over a year.

It's already been said, but is worth repeating: Get the real cost including all fees and charges, then divide it by the kWh consumed.

For example I have an office/shop that I rent in town that rarely gets used right now.
I used 21 kWh last month and my bill was $24.00, so about $1.15 per kWh.

Here at my all electric home, the January bill was $202.00 total, and I used 2042 kWh. So $0.10 per kWh

If you can get $.07/kWh including everything, that is great!

Marc

I went with Energy Ogre 3-4 years ago and have been very satisfied with the results. They do all the work to find a low cost provider for a very reasonable fee.

You can take it to the bank when I quote myself. See no grainy photographs. Next months estimation. They call me William.

Dear William Oxner,

This week your usage was 249 kWh compared to 253 kWh last week. Based on your usage, this month’s estimated* electricity charges are $135.06 (last month’s charges were $156.05).
