When people ask why the Alamo is such a big deal, they all died, I respond no they all fought!

Such a shame the new movement is to pretty much minimalize what the Alamo stands for and revert it back to the colonial system the Spanish developed which couldn't hold.

I would describe 'they' as group with left leaning ideology, and who are offended easily, for example the people who take down confederate statues, and want to blott out certain events in history that should be remembered.

2 weeks of constant cannon bombardment. That's what a lot of folks forget. They were tough as nails just to stay. Santa Anna hung the banner of No Quarter from San Fernando's bell tower. And his band played El Degüello (Slit Throat). It is a Texas Shrine, and I wish everyone would keep (current) politics out of it and honor the dead of the Alamo. I do think that the politics of the time should be studied more by young people so that they can truly understand how Texas came into being and the forces that were at play back then. I also think more could be done to honor the Hispanic "Tejanos" that fought along side the "recent arrivals". It's all part of the crazy mixed up city of my birth and that I will always love. Santa Anna was one interesting dude, 'thought he was another Napoleon, and he might have even been smarter than that little Frenchie. A "survivor" in every sense of the word.

the vision seems to be to bring back Mission San Antonio de Valero and attempt to minimize the heroic memory of the Alamo. Why else would they want to move the cenotaph off the grounds?

"La Frontera" movement. It's been touted by uber left professors for years. Give La Frontera back to Mexico...since they do such a bang-up job with the countryside (and people) they already have.

Errr. . . ., the San Antonio newspaper and comments from within some organization highly concerned about "things that are old". The vision for all this new stuff is to restore the Mission back to its colonial glory and that would not be when it was a run down complex which served as the defense sanctuary for the brave heroes who ended up providing the time to let Houston scurry about, train his troops and then, ultimately, defeat Santa Anna at the Battle of San Jacinto. The bet there is when complete, they will have more history on teaching the native indigenous people religion (bet they won't really focus ion that), to plant corn and dig out acequias than there will be on the Battle of the Alamo.
I still can't believe they want to move the memorial to the fallen heroes.

Oh, but where did the comment come from? Creekrunner what do you know about what hudbone is saying? Nothing. I can't really speak to that, but I do remember the memorial out front being talked about, but that was years ago. I think it's like the "third rail" in local politics. Nobody has the guts to actually come up with a plan to move it.
