Bad battery? Might go to a Oriellys and have them load test it

I put a new battery in it in August. Lights come on, ac blows, nothing happens when she turns the key. No solenoid click, hopefully just the relay.

When they jumped it did the motor turn over but not start? Maybe the cables need better connection and leave connected longer. Increase idle speed of car with good battery before trying to start.

Make and model?

Also, was she parked when it stopped working? Or did it shut off while she was driving?

2014 Hyandai Accent. Sat for a few days and then wouldnt start. Sounds like she has juice, battery wasnt dead but she put cables on it anyway. No noise as far as I can tell from starter or solenoid when she turns the key.

I have never used them but know people that won't take their cars anywhere else.

Make sure it’s fully in Park.

Yea, I had her shift it through the gears and try it neutral and then back in park. If the relay doesn't fix it will have her hold the key while she shifts. If that's not it I either have to figure out how to make time to drive down there and fix it or just tow it to the shop.

Obviously if she was still home I'd probably already have it fixed.

Sounds like the relay or whatever that makes you put on the brake to start is out. I know on my Honda there was a keyhole next to shifter to override.

Wasn't the relay. Not sure what this gizmo is but she reconnected the wire and it runs. Looks like one of thise insurance plug ins. We bought the car about six months ago.

that's to prevent theft pull that plug out and it keeps the car from starting..Those wires bypass the ignition switch. It looks like the wire wasn't connected to the but connector correctly.

I had her just wire nut it back together since those are pretty much foolproof. Next time she is home I'll either remove it or tidy up the wiring and get it out of the way. Guessing she kicked it loose or something.

This is definitely the guy in BCS. Honest and good. If she ever has a real problem, send her here.

another little hint if it doesn't start, that little doohickey to the right of the hood release can sometimes get dust/dirt in it ... it's a security feature that you can remove to disable the vehicle. First thing to check if it doesn't crank, is to remove the plug and blow on it, then reinsert into the socket. It might just fire right up. Ask me how I know??? my truck has one that looks almost identical and after pulling both batteries out and taking to Walmart to have checked/replaced, they said both batteries were fine, plenty hot. bang ... back home and reinstalled batteries, still nothing ... until I removed that plug, blew on it, inserted and Vroom. hammer ... hour plus wasted but learned a lesson that I check from time to time.
