Hard work pays off! Spend Saturday setting up our new Phantom Blind, and Sunday we were in search of our first Free Range Blackbuck!

All video recorded with the Tactacam FTS, 5.0 and wife angle cameras.

First he came from behind me, unexpectedly, so I had to move and set re set up. Made noise and put him on high alert only to have a dry fire!

He then circled around and ran towards a river bottom. Got de set up and he made a mistake at 216 yards!

What an emotional experience!

This Burris Optics Eliminator III with a build in range finder and ballistic compensation is amazing! Watch how after I range the blackbuck it lights up my aim point for that distance, even giving suggested wind compensation per 10mph.

I know people on here like to pile on you, and I realize I'm doing it now, but really plugging ballistic compensation and range finder for a 200 yard shot? No offense but you might want to consider working on some dry firing and less on the range finder, every video you're posting the reticle is jumping around like you have parkinsons.

If you notice there is still enough of a drop at 216 yards with the angle I was shooting to miss if not careful. And easily to misjudge distance in an open river bottom from an elevated position. The added security and peace of mind is one less thing to think about.

Also he was running and I was switching to get on him fast so not stable on the initial target acquisition but then settled real quick for a clean shot.

These free range black buck typically don’t stop when spooked and I knew I had seconds to make the shot when he stopped.

I wish I would have had more time to tighten down the head on the tripod when I switched sides to get back on him.

Heart pumping for my first free range good black buck as well just after going thru a few moments of pure frustration with a dry fire on an easy shot. I was amped.

Clean shot right on the money and a down black buck.

I have seen some guys make 700-800 yd shots with these scopes, they cna be helpful for someone with little experience out past 500yds but I just like doing the math myself and shooting my guns to see what MOA they are at what yardage.
