So.....you don’t think hogs are capable of attacking and taking a 130 lb. elderly lady down ? Do you think hogs won’t bite ? You think hogs won’t charge if they take a notion ? Which part are you calling BS on ? I’m interested to know.

Calling BS and saying its impossible are two different things. But, now that you mentioned it, lets identify all of the unusual and extraordinary circumstances and look at not only in totality but individually, and let's see which are typical of hog behavior. 1. Time of day 2. Proximity to houses and cars 3. Position of clothes 4. Proximity to loose domestic animals 5. Behavior of dogs 6. Known behavior of dogs when they attack (read: pull clothes off/dragging - watching Live PD as we speak) 7. Known use of tusks by hogs (slashing, not puncturing/biting) 8. Known feeding habits of hogs (yes they eat meat, but hunting large creatures is not a common trait) 8. Known fear/aversion to humans shown by wild hogs 9. Known defense behavior of wild hogs - they want to get out of there typically, not engage in a protracted fight IN A DEVELOPED AREA and WITH MULTIPLE DOGS AT HAND, let alone linger and feast.

Simple to prove as there should be plenty of DNA evidence.

I wasn’t there, so I might say it’s unusual, but not calling BS. Reasons why are: I’ve had two friends flipped and gouged by hogs in the daytime. I’ve had hogs just over my backyard fence multiple times in the daytime. Individual hogs have different personalities. Case in point: My son caught seven piglets in a trap and fed them out in a pen for several months until they were big enough to butcher. Three of them were just like pets, three of them were standoffish, but one of them had to be rapped on the snout EVERY time they were fed or he would BITE my son on the legs. As far as developed areas go, I have a friend who lives in a subdivision near a creek bottom, but still in town, not in the country. Hogs were in their street a few months back and he’s seen them in his backyard at night. I live in the country and I had to fence five acres out of my 80 to keep them from rooting up my yard. My son lives next to me and kills them in his yard at night where he feeds deer.

I will say you may be right, but where animals are concerned, never say never, and never say always. My personal opinion on this is that as hog populations grow exponentially, and they are almost certain to, we will see more human/feral hog confrontations that end badly. Thanks for your reply.

Yep. I may not be a smart man, but I know what sensationalizing a story to sell news is. I'm not saying it did, or did not happen, I'm agreeing there should be plenty of evidence to determine facts. Houston Chronicle is capitalizing on people's fear. This is hype. A few more steps and this "journalist" would be standing in a field of blooming yellow journalism.

I wonder if there was a pattern of feeding or tossing out garbage etc. to the hogs prior to the woman's death.

Also, if the 5 dogs were fed in a haphazard manner that left feed laying about that would encourag the hogs to feed in the area.

Did the deceased somehow get between a sow and her piglets? Did she have a stroke or slip and fall unable to get up? Many possibilities with no one to give the full details.

The car engine still warm when authorities arrived? I would think that unless the hogs were accustomed to the car driving up and stopping, they would have scattered long enough for the woman to make it from the car to the house. I can understand the hogs not being to concerened with an auto that drives past, but usually if an auto slows or stops the hogs will go to cover at least briefly.

I've always thought there was more to this story, and that we would never know the entire story.
