Big8 Pro Tracker B Joined: Oct 2017 Posts: 1,220	Was up in Stephenville today visiting my Daughter for a scholarship banquet at Tarleton, ate at Montana restaurant and wish we would have gone to Jake and Dorthy’s instead! Probably will go next time or my favorite Purple Goat.

Still go at least once or twice every time I return. If you want a good steak and good atmosphere, go to Ruby's on the square. It is really good.

In the 90's Montana's had great food. Can't say that now...not even close.

We ate there about 6 months ago and I got one of the best chicken fry`s I have eaten in a while and went back a few weeks later and was disappointed . You can still get a hamburger on Tuesdays for $1 dollar. Mine and my wife`s families have been in the Stephenville/Erath county for over 100 years so Jake`s (as locals call it) has lots of memories for us. The first time I went elk hunting in Colorado(1982), we camped by some older guys from Arizona who had played in a fastpitch tournament in Stephenville in the 70`s and they raved about Jake and Dorthy`s chicken fried steak.
