Chantix works for just about everyone. The question is will you and your loved ones survive it. A percentage of people who take it have some pretty nasty mental side effects.

Yep, that’s my understanding.

I had a three pack a day habit for years. Finally decided those filthy, nasty things would be the death of me. Out in the shop one day i walked over to the trash can, threw the cancer sticks and lighter away.
Haven't touched them now in 24 years.

To those of you who have won this battle, GREAT JOB!

To those of you still in this battle, continue the fight. If not for yourself, for those who love you.

Yes, yes, I know it has to be done for yourself most of all, but anything that helps. up

Hypnosis in ‘92, cost $35, never smoked one again after walking out of the room. Only downside is if you clap your hands real quick 3 times and say “purple”, I’ll quack like a duck for you.

Oh I can assure you, that you do more than that. While under the hood you might as well tinker. Lol
You just don’t remember. Think about it. Those unexplained things. wink

Bupropion ER 150 mg tablets work great. Only semi negative side effect is you feel very tense at times. Prescription only.

edit: does not work to keep you from dipping though.

Take the Chantix for the full three months. I took it for 2 months and quit November 8, 2019. It works. I wish I had taken it the extra month because I still have cravings, but it doesn't bother me. I've been clean over 3 months and feel better. The garage where I smoked smells better as does my truck. I've put on a little over 10 pounds but am now losing it. It's really great not wanting to take smoke breaks.

The wife tried it, that stuff will never come on my property again. I know people who have had good luck with it though.

I had a heart attack April 5th, 2017. I spent about 48 hours in ICU. When I got home, I threw my smokes in the trash and never looked back.

I quit in 1998. Started with the patch but that didn't work too well, so I went to nicotine gum. I did that for a few years but all I really did was trade one habit for another. So, Chantrix for me to get off the gum. I took it for a week and quit, both the gum and chantrix. After I got over the nicotine withdraws I was good to go; I chewed regular gum off and on when I felt I needed to. I've been away from it so long I don't even have those stupid dreams of smoking anymore. I cannot stand to smell it either.

It is a struggle, but it can be done. And there's no downside to stopping smoking no matter how long you have been doing it.

beaversnipe, just say no to the craving as many times as it takes. We're on your side here.

Good for you that's all it takes is a lot of gumption.
