I have a 336Y (recently discontinued and now called the compact), a 336 (JM) in 35 Rem and a 1895. My next goal is a 1895 Cowboy.

Currently sporting the same (jm) 336 in 35 Remington plus a 1894 in 45 Colt. The 35 Remington will always be a staple in my house. The rest I buy, sink time and money in them, then sell for a loss. Repeat.
My favorite upgrade is the Wild West trigger. It cuts the pull in half and removes the “marlin flop”.

I wouldn't call myself a fanatic but I do own a Model 336W 30-30 that's proved it's value on a few hogs.

1894 in 44 mag, pre cross bolt safety, Marlin couldn't give me date of manufacture. Why not? What's the serial? https://oldguns.net/sn_php/marlinlookup.php
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Got a 1971 Marlin 336. Gold trigger. My favorite rifle.
My uncle gave it to me. I was very fond of it when I was young.

My favorite Marlin by far is a 1894LTDSS in 357 Mag. Trapper size stainless with laminate stock. It is my favorite short range (inside 125 yards) rifle Short ,light weight, very handy. Wish I had bought 2 when I had the chance. They only made 250 of that model.

I have a Marlin 30AS in 30-30, that my parents bought me when I was 13. The rifle is 25 years old. My prized Marlin is my Great Grandpas 30-30 with octagon barrel. It is a four digit serial number rifle that was made in 1893. I have shot several deer with the rifle.

MBravo, that is one sweet rifle! With family lineage and photos, I'm not surprised that it is your prized gun!
I like JM Marlins. I have an 1895G and a Glenfield model 25. I used to have a 30AS, but I never could get the darn thing to shoot straight. I'm always on the lookout for a good deal on a 1894c.

One if mine is a 336, bought it new in 1969, it cost $89.99. with tax and a box of shells it was less than a $100 out the door. The others, are Model 99's, a 22 Hi Power, a 30-30, a 243, and a few others. Of the 99's I only shoot the 243 and 30-30.
