I was heading north on the East 610 loop in Houston. Early afternoon in a hot month, so the temp was around 100. I remember that it was really hot. I heard a pop and then a wop wop wop. The right rear tire had gone. I eased to the shoulder and stopped. A cop pulled alongside, so I rolled down the window. He asked if I was Ok. I thought he was going to give me a hand with the tire change. Nooooo...too hot to be of assistance today, so off he went. I was dripping when I got the tire changed and I was back in the car. No swerving at all, thank goodness. More irritating than scary. Don’t remember what make of tire it was. I had a 300ZX and was trying several tire makes to find something that would last a while.

Heard back from Goodyear. They inspected the tire and say it was my fault the tire blew out and they are not going to do anything for me. They say I must have hit something hard and damaged the belt. Which is BS I had already driven over 200 miles that day on perfectly good roads. But I guess when you inspect your own crappy tire you can say whatever you want. Hell of a deal.

Sort of figured that's what they would say. They weren't going to come to a conclusion that was going to cost them any money.

Sorry to hear that. I do think there are some issues with those tires. The blowouts ive seen pictures posted looked just like yours, straight across the tread. Sadly I have always been told that pretty much nobody, auto manufacturer nor tire/battery manufacturer covers tires/batteries on a vehicle warranty.
Are yours 17 inch rims? If so I have a lowish mile (about 25k miles) one you can have I originally kept it for an extra spare, but your welcome to it.

No surprise in that response and USAA ain't gonna pursue Goodyear on subrogation but I was so hoping for you and I hope you got it in writing from USAA that this claim is not going to effect your premium rate!

I had already bought a replacement for that tire. I bought 4 Hankook Dynapro AT2 RF11 from Discount tire. They had to order them and I am going to get them put on Monday and have them put the tire I bought from them for a replacement on the spare to get rid of the crap tire Dodge put there. I had had very good luck with Hankook tires on two other trucks I had them on.

I got Goodyear to try to return my tire. They sent it to the wrong person and when I got it the tire was not mine. Goodyear called and told me that they sent the wrong tire to me. They called again today and I told them they sent it to the wrong person and when I got it the tire it was not mine. They want me to send it back. I told them I want $500 to send it back. That is what My deductible for getting my truck repaired. They said no. So I told them to pound sand and I would not give the tire back. They then said it was against the law that it was not my tire so I hung up on them. It is getting interesting.

I just got a call from Goodyear. They said they had someone coming to pick up the tire. I told them I would not let them have it unless they gave me $500. They said they would not give me $500 and that if I would not give them the tire they were having their legal dept get in touch with me. I told them the suing me was going to cost them more than $500 They said they did not care what it would cost them so I hung up. We shall see.

Why do you keep you keep hanging up on them? If everyone remains calm and courteous maybe you will get some benefit. They have the ability to give you just what you want/expect. If you hang up, are rude, or fill in any negative, you probably will get nothing. Well except to come on the forum and rant.
You can be 100% correct but if it is not working try something else.
Best of luck to you and sorry for your troubles.

Best of luck to you and sorry for your troubles. Sometimes the satisfaction is worth it. I doubt that the $500 is going to break him, if they wont do anything telling them to F Off might just be worth it.

I've never had a front tire blow out, but I did have a front wheel bearing seize up on a 1989 K5 Blazer once. Doing 70 on a bridge over Tampa Bay. That was interesting.

Best of luck to you and sorry for your troubles. Yes they could give me the $500. I have tried to be very courteous to the woman that calls me. I have explained to her that I was not at fault for the tire blowing out. It was a straight smooth road. Goodyear says I hit something to cause it. Not true. The blowout caused $1200 damage to my truck. I had to pay the $500 deductible plus spend time with USAA and the Repair shop. And I was without my truck for a week. I had to buy a new tire to replace the ruined one. Then did not feel safe driving on the same type that blew bought 4 new tires of a different brand. In all over $2500 because of a blow out that Goodyear says is not their responsibility. If they had given me the $500 I wanted this would all be history. I have hung up on them because they have started the litigation talk. Good if you want to sue me go for it. They have tried calling me twice more this afternoon. Why answer if they are going to sue. The only thing I can figure is that the owner of the tire they sent me is raising hell with them also. Goodyear told him his blown out tire was also not their fault.

Ask for them to send you a shipping label and you will send it back. Go find an old wore out tire and ship back to them. When they call say “I sent it back, you didn’t get it? Must’ve went somewhere else, I hear that happens!” Give ‘me hell!
