I’d run a snake through it once or maybe twice and be done. But if you’re going to run 100 rounds through it before the match you should be fine but if you use coated bullets it takes a while to build back up in the barrel.

Did you get the course of fire yet?

FWIW, I would never run a boresnake through any gun i own but thats just anal me. I do use a pull through Patch Worm on my semi- auto rimfires.

they are filthy and full of old lead, carbon, copper, yuck. just doesn't seem right to drag old yuck over new yuck.

for rimfire buy a Patch Worm and Rimfire Blend or Ballistol . they make felt "pellets" with special , course felt for tough lead and carbon donuts.

but ive always kept my stuff clean till time to shoot. i will always foul a clean barrel with a few shots, maybe not 2 boxes of rimfire. but everyone's guns could be different so YMMV.

this is just my opinion, not telling anyone what "they" should do with their guns

Since I mostly/always have my Form1 suppressor in place, my rifle requires far more cleaning, so I clean my rifle after every range trip. This is due to the fact that my 10/22 is of course blow-back design PLUS the much higher back-pressure created by the suppressor, both contribute to a lot of dirt/debris going back into the receiver, which is of course cumulative, so the more I shoot, the quicker I get the gunk to create malfunctions/feeding problems. I am in fact considering stop using the suppressor on the 10/22, even though I love how quiet it sounds, at least until I finish a new Form1 design that I am still working on that "should" have lower back-pressure.

Yes, you’ll be able to use pillows. I’m not making the course of fire for this particular match so it’s up to the match director which will be Vesperman Sr for this particular match. It’s up to him what is usable and what isn’t in each stage.

TYL is test your limits. Normally shot at further ranges and you keep the points you hit regardless of misses. KYL is know you limits and you shoot progressively smaller targets one shot per target and you can stop at any time and walk away with your points. If you miss on KYL you lose all points for that stage.

Thanks. I apologize for the dumb questions but this is my first competitive shoot. I’ll probably have more questions on Saturday!

Yep, Josh was a bit nervous but he got over it quickly and is a fine shooter. Everyone is very helpful and laid back. Good people and lots of fun.

For Saturday (assuming it does not snow 2 feet!), the calendar says 8am-2pm if I recall. We start at 8am, thus we need to arrive like 15-20min before 8am? Just trying to make sure I am not late on Saturday since this is my first ever event smile

More or less how is that 8-2 time during the day works out? Is there a set order of events, distances, groups, etc..?

Will

Sorry about that, the times on the practiscore needs to be changed. The match is 9am-2pm. Yes be there 15-20 minutes early, earlier if you need to zero. There will be paper at 50 for sighting in. You’re NOT allowed to shoot any other distances or steel. Steel will already be painted and we don’t want to waste time having to repaint steel before the match. Match will start at 9am. There will be 3 squads randomized, each squad will start on a different stage and shoot through each stage on the course of fire until they’re done. The last stage KYL we’ll all shoot together. Most people like to watch KYL.

Times have been fixed on all matches.

Correct if you shoot your gun at paper that morning you’re not eligible to shoot the cold bore shot.

What is the cold bore shot? I thought we have 3x squads, shooting at 3x sets of targets, and then alternate until all shoot all 3x sets of targets. Is this cold bore shoot something that happens before we start the 3x squads?

Again, pardon my ignorance as this is my first ever of these events.
