Yes just got new ones started needing them at 45. The Distance is great but I can't see my feet with the Bifocals so I have to go back and get them to adjust the prescription.

I don't have to have them for distance, 20/22 uncorrected, but my arms are getting too short to read up close. I usually get prescription for distance, which gets me to 20/16 and carry 1.5 readers for computer and/or reading. I just got a new prescription in Dec. and am trying some progressive lens. They work okay but really cut down on my peripheral vision and can't stand them on the computer since I have dual 24 inch monitors.

Readers for the last 15 years or so. Can’t do any reading without them.

Been wearing glasses since I was a teenager. Would like Lasik but I can't stand anything near my eyes.

I have been in been in glasses since my 30's and in trifocals for the past 20+ years. I checked on Lasik but they said it would not help me. Good news is I am in my 60's and don't have cataracts yet.

I started wearing glasses in my mid 30's to correct my far vision. I got tired of dealing with glasses when I started working in the oilfield so I started wearing contacts. With the contacts in I had to wear cheaters to read which defeated the purpose of wearing contacts....about 5 years ago I just started wearing one contact....now my left eye is corrected with a contact for distant vision and my right (dominate) eye is used for near vision/reading.

Works for me....

Blind as a damn bat here. Started wearing glasses in the second grade. Teacher sent me to the office because I wouldn't/couldn't read off the projector. She told me to keep getting closer a row at a time till I could, when I got to the first row and still couldn't read it she thought I was causing trouble. Started wearing contacts in college.

For those of you that started wearing glasses at an early age, would you consider yourself to have been a heavy reader as a young person?

I had lasik 18 years ago....some money I’ve spent in the past I didn’t Bertie as a waste.

In the last 6 months I’ve noticed as I get tired I need them to read.

Unfortunately I have horrible vision. -8.5 in both eyes. Started wearing glasses in 3rd grade. When I turned 42-43 my reading vision started to get bad as well. Without my glasses or contacts I’m lost.

I’m one of the lucky few. At 72 I still don’t need glasses. My wife does, as do our kids, and all my brothers and sisters. I have no explanation for it, but being the only tennis player in the family I have wondered if the constant following of the ball has kept all those eye muscles strong. Probably not, but it’s the only explanation I can come up with.

And obviously my priest was wrong. :-)

Lasik is not a permanent solution for all patients at all. Don't get fooled by the doctors.

You will need glasses again after 15 or 20 yrs or so since the surgery, although you will still be able to drive without them (not at night) and watch TV (but tv’s got way bigger and sharper too, the last 20 years)

Luckily in Texas, you will need sunglasses almost every day anyway.
I have 2-3 pairs of prescription sunglasses, i think -1.5 both, and they get expensive.

After Lasik, you will wear shades almost every day, as your eyes will automatically be more sensitive to sunshine than prior to Lasik.

You will also need reading glasses after age 50 or so, but most people will anyway.

I would not do a second Lasik surgery, as it’s at much higher risk

Same way I was my friend, but when cataracts came into story, watching cataract surgery verse lasik, bit the bullet, went ahead with lasik. Was the first time I was in hospital for a anything since I was born. Was scared to death, but turns out, was one of the best things I have done. Had mine done in Sherman at BS&W surgery clinic on Travis st. Dr Plushey”spelling” did mine from RGB Lasik Catarct associates. Not cheap, but totally satisfied with people, care, and results.
