11 months ago I'd have said deer 10/10 times. But after several incredible duck hunts this year I'm beginning to get swayed.

Currently ducks but I prioritize based on the time of year. I won't waste prime WT hunting(rut) chasing ducks unless my holes are loaded up. Like mentioned above I enjoy the social aspect of duck hunting along with the work, especially when they finish just right. However I will say the isolation of watching the world wakeup from a deer stand can be hard to beat at times.

I enjoy both but do a lot more deer a lot more often than ducks, always have. I do like to get in on a few duck or goose hunts with friends every year.

I enjoy duck hunting more, though if I had to pick one forever it would be deer.

Deer hunting is what I know. "Deer" was my first word. True story. But, to paraphrase Grizz - duck hunting is like sex to me - I'm not very good at it, but I love doing it.

I have loved deer hunting basically my entire life, so it's in my blood. Plus I love the meat prepared in a multitude of different ways.
I have only gone duck hunting (like real duck hunting in a blind over decoys) and that was a lot of fun, and as a kid growing up, we would bushwhack ducks by sneaking up on the back side of a tank dam. Plus I don't really care much for the taste of the meat. I still recall my dad telling my brother and I to find someone else to cook a duck besides our mother as she couldn't fix them where anyone could eat them and it would stink up the entire house ... LOL ...

I kill deer because I like to eat them. I eat duck because I like to kill them. I quit duck hunting when I moved out of East Texas. I’d much rather quail hunt. Of the two choices I’ll take duck hunting over deer hunting any day.

I like deer hunting until after the split. Then I like duck and pheasant. Then I like coues in January, then I like ducks again until the end of the season. Then I like hogs and rabbits until the sand bass run. Then I l8ke sand bass until the bass spawn heats up, then I'll go chase strippers, er stripers until it's time to start bow hunting again. Ii didn't answer the poll because I didn't see yes as an answer.
No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

I have hunted deer almost 40 years and really enjoy it. We really like the meat it provides. Now, my son is in the Air Force and stationed in Minot, ND. I have been able to duck hunt with him the last 2 years in October. This has been my first time to really hunt ducks other than pond jumping. The scouting, getting out early and setting up decoys in potholes and hiding in the cattails, calling, and all else has really bit me! I love every minute of it. I have bought a couple of calls and keep them in my truck and practice all the time! Maybe I can help call next year. I have also purchased a couple of dozen cheap decoys in case I can find a place around home to hunt.

I couldn't vote.
They are equally enjoyed by me. Some years I'll bow hunt a bit more than I duck hunt and vice versa.
Duck hunting is more of a social deal. Get to laugh and tell jokes. Ideally lots of action.
Bow hunting I get to enjoy the woods really watch them wake up and go back to sleep. Almost become part of the surroundings.

Deer hunting is number one for me, but I really enjoy duck hunting as well. With deer, there is always the allure of the big buck you have never seen or trying to kill a deer you have on camera. The chase is what I enjoy the most. The last three seasons I have picked one buck to go after so I have a "goal" I am hunting for. With ducks, once you've killed a mallard, pintail, wood duck, etc....they all look the same, but the action on a good duck hunt is tons of fun. I actually prefer a good dove hunt with buddies over ducks. Plus, it seems like the weather for duck hunting is usually pretty miserable, Lol.

I prefer deer hunting, I gave duck hunting a try and it just never seemed like the bark was worth the bite. I have never been lured by big bucks, just meat in the freezer is good enough. Deer hunting is more of a solitude thing for me. I use it for a chance at total peace and quiet. There are other avenues where you can get separated from all of the commotion of life, but deer hunting is my way to just spend a few quiet hours with nature and God.

Did the duck & geese hunting back in the mid-late 60's & early 70's... Like few have mentioned, the steel shot pretty much ended it. Up here the shotgun play a +roll. Birds, squerral, silly wabbits, & deer-shotgun. Most didnt like the stell shot, raised the price, & hunters worried bout scratching barrells. Always enjoyed driving down the roads & seeing deer... The limit of ducks taken vs price of steel shot, figured in, saved me money for me Kentucky .45 price of one shot - & the amount of for en & chillen... did i mention i miss me hog hunts ? The other wild game... got hooked on it... 24-7-365 Tis like ice fishing, living in 30+ years, missed it. Took the 2 week shut down for Christmas head home, deer archery & ice fishing with family...

Deer for me. I got real serious into duck/goose hunting a while back but I just don't enjoy how they taste. I still would love to go if I knew someone who wanted the meat but for me it's all about being in the deer woods for as much of the season as I can.

Deer, I enjoy my alone time. I like the sound of an arrow smacking a deer more than the rifle report these days. I like silence. I have duck hunted but it's not for me. I have a greenhead mount and that's where it ends. I do love a good week of dove hunting with my friends and family though, just to remind me of how much I enjoy my quiet time.
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Of the two choices, I chose Deer, easily. I know I am one of the few, but I would prefer Dove hunting, over deer, over duck.... even during bow season, I usually bow hunt mornings, dove hunt evenings.

I asked the same question to my son. His answer was, let's hunt duck in the morning and deer in the afternoon! If you have an easy set up and good location to hunt from, duck hunting is more fun. But, duck hunting is much more work and if you do not have access to an easy and quick set up for duck, it's easy to pick deer hunting. We have a 50 acre lake with 2 different duck blinds set up on our deer lease. So, going duck hunting is easy and not a lot of work. More work may be a little bit of a stretch. All the time, effort, and MONEY that goes into habitat for WT makes duck hunting cheap. I thoroughly enjoy wing shooting as a whole more than big game -- you can go out every day without worrying about your limit, and you can take others without some of the concerns you would have when big game hunting. Kids don't have to be as patient, my dog is happier than ever, and my wife doesn't count "work" trips prior to the season as hunting excursions since they don't happen. Perfect world I would hunt everything though

Either, with stock tanks around the area, we have some ducks, and we have hunted both on the same day.

I'd rather hunt for ducks but I'd rather shoot a deer. My fall/ winter is normally duck hunt in the AM and deer hunt in the PM every weekend.
